Nardil/Phenelzine

Nardil or most well known as Phenelzine on the market is actually from the big family of monoamine oxidase inhibitors or MAOIs.

It works by blocking particular enzymes in the brain and eventually increases some other chemicals in the brain that help prevent depression.

  • Sinus medications like Sinutab
  • Epinephrine and methylphenidate
  • Asthma inhalants like albuterol
  • Dextromethorphan
  • Products that contain L-tryptophan
  • Pseudoephedrine

Common Side Effects

Like most medications, Nardil has also some common side effects. Like the foods and medications that are not allowed, you also have to know all of the said side effects for your own safety and precautionary measures as well.

Normally, side effects may actually include:

  • Headache
  • Liver problems
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Low blood pressure upon sudden standing

Nardil: NOT for Children and Adolescents

Because of the possible side effects and increased risk of suicidal thinking and at times even behaviors, a medication like Nardil has been said to be not advisable to children and some adolescents with depression and other anxiety disorders.
